Hi, I'm Gemma, a Disability Support Worker!

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

My dream day would be going to a new country town, visiting their op shop and having a sweet treat at a cafe. I also love going to markets, making pottery and camping!

What excites you about being a disability support worker?

I love meeting people, joining in their daily routine and helping out wherever I can. The great thing about this job is I get to help individuals with the big stuff, whether that be going out the house for a fun activity, whilst also being part the small things, such as quiet companionship and helping with mundane tasks.

What are your special skills?

I have been a Disability Support Worker for two years, however my degree is in Business and Promotion & was a Product Developer in my previous role! I've also spent three summers in Michigan, USA being a Camp Counsellor and led camping trips within Northern Michigan and Ontario, Canada.

What's a fun fact about you?

I am from Sheffield, England! I came here in 2019 and fell in love with Victoria. I try to go back to England to see my family and dog Bernie once a year.

Which three things would you bring to a picnic no matter what?

Nuffin fetta and cracked pepper dip, lightly salted chips and a can of cold Coke Zero!
